Our History

Over a century ago, miners in the Rocky Mountains used donkeys to carry heavy loads over some of the toughest terrain in the country. Rugged and sure-footed, donkeys were indispensable when tough jobs had to get done.

The Donkey Truck-Mounted Forklift

In 1985, a new DONKEY® was developed – a revolutionary, lightweight and powerful truck mounted forklift. By 1987, Quality Corporation began to manufacture the DONKEY® at its factory in Denver, Colorado. As the popularity of this innovative design grew, the name DONKEY® became synonymous with truck carried forklifts. After nearly 30 years since the first truck carried forklift was manufactured, The Holder family of Bay Springs, Miss. acquired Donkey Forklifts in November 2015. Under a new name, Donkey Forklifts joined the Hol-Mac Family of companies which includes Hol-Mac Corporation of Bay Springs, Huber Corporation of Gulfport, Miss. and Anel Corporation of Winona, Miss.

Hol-Mac Corporation recently celebrated fifty-four years of superior manufacturing and engineering excellence. Originally founded as Southern Welding and Machine by Charles B. Holder, the company provided welding and machine shop services to the local timber, oil field, construction and farming industries. As Charles’ resources grew so did his vision. Led by a sound financial base, technical expertise and the drive to expand into a world-class manufacturer, Hol-Mac Corporation grew from two employees in one facility to four modern facilities with over 500 skilled craftsmen and professionals. Each plant specializing in specific applications, Hol-Mac Corporation’s dedicated manufacturing space now totals approximately 600,000 square feet and includes the production of five proprietary products; Pac-Mac® Refuse & Recycling Equipment, Pac-Mac® Vacuum Equipment, Huber Vacuum Equipment, Hammerhead Armor™ and Donkey Forklifts.
